Faf du Plessis is a former South African cricketer, born on July 13, 1984, in Pretoria, South Africa. He was a right-handed middle-order batsman and a part-time leg-spin bowler who played for the South African national cricket team in all formats of the game.

Career Stats:

Du Plessis played 69 Test matches and scored 4163 runs at an average of 40.02, including 10 centuries and 21 half-centuries. He also took 40 catches in his Test career.

In ODIs, Du Plessis played 143 matches and scored 5507 runs at an average of 47.47, including 12 centuries and 35 half-centuries. He also took 62 catches and 11 wickets in his ODI career.

In T20Is, Du Plessis played 50 matches and scored 1521 runs at an average of 32.65, including 8 half-centuries. He also took 24 catches in his T20I career.

Achievements:

  • Du Plessis made his Test debut for South Africa in 2012 and scored a century on debut against Australia in Adelaide, becoming only the fourth South African to achieve this feat.
  • In 2013, Du Plessis played a match-saving innings of 110 not out against Australia in Adelaide, batting for almost eight hours to help South Africa draw the match and secure the series.
  • Du Plessis was appointed as the captain of South Africa’s T20I team in 2013 and led the team to their first-ever T20I series victory over Australia.
  • Du Plessis also captained South Africa in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, leading the team to the semi-finals on both occasions.
  • In 2018, Du Plessis scored his highest Test score of 199 against Sri Lanka in Colombo, falling just one run short of a double century.
