Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen is a South African cricketer who was born on May 21, 2000, in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a left-arm fast bowler and a lower-order batsman who made his first-class debut for North West in the 2019–20 season of the South African domestic cricket.

Career Stats:

Jansen has played 7 first-class matches and has taken 29 wickets at an average of 18.62, including 2 five-wicket hauls, and has also scored 130 runs with the bat. He has also played 10 List A matches, taking 12 wickets at an average of 33.50, and has also played 5 T20 matches, taking 4 wickets at an average of 28.50.

He made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for the Mumbai Indians in the 2021 season, where he played 3 matches and took 3 wickets at an average of 23.33.

Achievements:

• In his debut first-class season, Jansen took 18 wickets in 4 matches for North West, including a match-winning spell of 7 for 53 against Northern Cape in the CSA Provincial Three-Day Cup.
• He was then picked up by the Mumbai Indians at the 2021 IPL auction for INR 20 lakh and made his debut in the tournament against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
• Jansen made headlines in his second IPL match when he dismissed AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell in successive deliveries to help Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by two wickets.
• In February 2021, Jansen was named in the South Africa A squad for their tour of Zimbabwe.
