Wanindu Hasaranga is a Sri Lankan cricketer born on July 29, 1997, in Galle, Sri Lanka. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm leg-spinner, who made his international debut for Sri Lanka in August 2017.

Career Stats:

Hasaranga has played 24 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Sri Lanka and has scored 279 runs at an average of 15.50, including a half-century. With the ball, he has taken 35 wickets at an average of 20.54.

He has also played 23 T20 Internationals for Sri Lanka, scoring 103 runs at an average of 14.71 and a strike rate of 110.75. With the ball, he has taken 37 wickets at an average of 16.48 and an economy rate of 6.16.

In domestic cricket, Hasaranga has played for Colombo Kings in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) and for Galle Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Achievements:

  • Hasaranga was named as the Player of the Series in Sri Lanka’s ODI series against India in July 2021, where he took 7 wickets in 3 matches at an average of 22.28.
  • He also took a hat-trick against Zimbabwe in an ODI match in January 2020, becoming the third Sri Lankan bowler to achieve this feat in ODI cricket.
  • Hasaranga has also been successful in T20 cricket and is ranked as the number one T20I bowler in the world as of March 2023.
  • He was a key player for Colombo Kings in the 2020 LPL, taking 17 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 14.41 and an economy rate of 5.83, helping his team win the tournament.
